Mala’a is a multi-phase national initiative that enables access to credit through Information Services, Credit Rating, Creditworthiness and Solvency Insights for individuals and corporates.
Oman Credit and Financial Information Centre (Mala’a) was established by Royal Decree 38/2019 issued on 8th May 2019 as an independent organization under the supervision of the Central Bank of Oman with financial and administrative independence.
Mala’a Report consists of multiple sections and includes information about credit facilities and repayment history for the last 24 months. The bilingual report contains demographics, firmographics, Mala’a Score, Probability of Default, Mala’a Score History, Guarantor, Collaterals, Inquiries, Bounced Cheques, and Disputes.
The Dashboard of Mala’a Reports gives a consolidated view of information that allows quick decision-making.
Mala’a Report helps you:
Adapt informed financial planning techniques and acknowledging your financial status.
The right to view your credit and financial information and knowing when any changes\updates take place from credit providers.
To know the financial status of a guaranteed person and if they are committed to repaying on time.
To make sure that you have no bounced checks that might affect your creditworthiness negatively.
To know which entities inquired about you in the past 24 months.
All credit providers have internal policies and procedures to assess credit risk. Mala’a Report and Mala’a Score are tools used in Credit Risk Management. It is up to the credit providers discretion to grant or deny a credit facility based on their internal policies, and not Mala’a’s decision.

Oman Credit and Financial Information Centre is the official name of the body established by Royal Decree, whereas Mala’a is the brand name that is used to represent The Centre. One of Mala’a’s core tasks is to operate as the National Credit Bureau for Oman.
The decision on whether to grant credit is made by the credit providers ONLY.
Mala’a furnishes credit providers with information to support their credit risk decision-making and to better understand the probability of meeting the credit commitments.
Mala’a never make any decisions with regards to giving credit or not.
As per Royal decree 38/2019, Mala’a receives demographic, firmographic, credit and financial data for all consumers and corporates. Refer to Section Mala’a Report for further details.
Mala’a is regulated by the Central Bank of Oman and complies with all Information Protection and Confidentially Regulations and Policies.

Your Credit and financial data is only available to you and to the member institutions that you have credit with or have requested credit from.
You are encouraged review your report periodically, should you believe your data is incorrect then you are encouraged to raise a data correction case through Mala’a Customer Service team. As explained above, a member is an entity that has membership subscription with the Mala’a and submit credit/financial information to the Centre and in return obtain credit reports and scores to manage its credit/Financial risks.
Whereas, a Data Provider is a government or private registry/database that feed data to Mala’a One-Way as required by the Bylaw of Royal Decree 38/2019 in order to help build a a national Databank.
