Reiterating its position as an active player in contributing positively to the society it serves, Sohar International’s Chairman forum- Viewpoints invites you to its 11th edition on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 starting at 7:30 pm, on the Zoom platform. Continuing to bring global learning and perspective to locally relevant topics, the upcoming session of Viewpoints, titled ‘Conquering Human Limitations’, will host Sir Ranulph Fiennes, a famous British explorer, UK Army Officer and travel writer - also named as ‘the world’s greatest living explorer’ by Guinness Book of World Records.
In this ever-changing world, human beings have been bounded by socio-economic restrictions – particularly in a situation like the current crisis which has limited the movement of mankind. These limitations can and have been conquered through venturing and pushing the edge of mankind’s capabilities and adapting resilience to cope with the difficulties and to bridge the gap. In light of these considerations, Sir Ranulph Fiennes will offer perspectives on the complexities that imply for human capabilities and limitations based on his groundbreaking expeditions. Furthermore, explaining how his pursuit of extraordinary challenges pushed the limits of human endurance, setting new standards and determinations, Sir Ranulph will answer audience queries in the upcoming session of Viewpoints.
Expressing his view on the forthcoming session of viewpoints, Mr. Mohammed Mahfoudh Al Ardhi, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Sohar International said, ‘’In its endeavors to strengthen and encourage the local people of Oman in different areas by exposing them to global experiences and eminent personalities, the upcoming edition of Viewpoints reflects the need for overcoming various boundaries imposed on people in today’s time and may continue to happen in the near future. The subject of the coming session has been specially chosen by Sohar International at this specific time, aiming to dive deep on how human beings can conquer and push the limits of durability with the right attitudes and resolve to overcome and conquer whatever stops them.’’
Sir Ranulph Fiennes has one of the most unique life stories ever told. An expert in conquering human limitations, he is the only person alive to have travelled the surface of the World’s polar axis. He has never stopped risking life and limb for adventure, becoming the first to cross Antarctica on foot (over 97 days) and the first to run 7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents for charity. Pushing the boundaries and testing human limits, he conquered Everest at 65 years old, and he became the first person to summit Everest and cross both polar ice caps.
‘’Providing the community with valuable inputs and serving its objective of becoming an ideal platform for sharing knowledge, Sohar International’s Viewpoints continues to offer comprehensive sessions from a global perspective, particularly with the pandemic continuing to reshape societies and economies around the world.
