Sohar International recently extended support to the Oman Association for the Disabled, Ibri branch, as part of its Sohar Al Ataa’ CSR initiatives. Furthering its support since 2010 to the Oman Association for the Disabled, the bank’s contribution will be allocated for the purchase of wheelchairs for members of the Association, helping them overcome the challenge of mobility in their daily life.
Mr Khalil Salim Al Hedaifi, Chief Retail Banking Officer Sohar International, visited the Association branch in Ibri and met with its members and officials. Following the visit, Mr Khalil Al Hedaifi stressed on the importance of helping all segments of society to attain self-sustenance, an activity that when adopted by public and private institutions will contribute remarkably towards Oman’s social and economic development. He said, “Sohar International has very strong corporate social ethics that places great emphasise on giving back to the community within which it operates. It is part of who we are at Sohar international to help others achieve their goals and aspirations. Mobility in today’s world means a lot to the individual’s independence and success, and hence we feel inspired by supporting the disabled overcome the mobility challenge and improve their quality of life. ”
Sohar International continues to support community development in the Sultanate through long-term relationships with charity organizations. Previous support to the Association was directed to fund training sessions on sign language, purchase of special cerebral palsy wheel chairs among others initiatives focused on empowering members of the association.
