In yet another initiative to show its support of Omani culture and promoting the spirit of winning, Sohar International served as sponsor for the 10th annual Al Abyadh Camel Race Festival, held at the Abyadh Race Course, in the Wilayat of Mudhaibi. The two-day festival was concluded under the patronage of H.H. Sayyid Dr Al Khattab Ghalib Al Said.
The festival took place between 24th and 25th April, and is considered one of the most popular camel-racing events in the Sultanate, attracting over 25,000 tourists, professional racers and observers from across the region. The event saw winners of more than 50 races walk away with attractive prizes such as cars, cash prizes, swords, Khanjars in addition to commemorative shields and cups. Mr Saad al Shidhani, Branch Manager of Sinaw branch, received a token of appreciation from the organizers in recognition of the bank’s support.
Commenting on sponsoring the event, Mr Khalil Salim Al Hedaifi, Chief Retail Banking Officer at Sohar International said, “We at Sohar International are committed to constantly engage with the communities we serve. This festival that is organized by locals, among other similar initiatives, offer good platforms to showcase Oman’s rich cultural heritage and diversity while contributing to the economic progress by attracting thousands of visitors from Oman and abroad and helping local businesses grow in the process. Additionally, with our renewed vision as a world-leading Omani service company that helps customers and communities to prosper and grow, we see the spirit of winning showcased by participants reflective of our new brand personality of being Sharp, Human and Unstoppable. We thank the organizers for their efforts in making the event a success and congratulate the winners in these races.”
Al Abyadh Camel Race Festival further offered visitors an array of cultural activities, including a glimpse into the Bedouin lifestyle, folklore music and dances, and more than 50 traditional handicrafts artists from across the region.
Sohar International is unswerving as a facilitator of positive socio-economic growth within the nation, paying significant attention to sponsorship of young Omani talents to help them win. With the aim of enhancing the Sultanate’s profile in international arenas; the bank has sponsored Shihab Al Habsi, the 15 year old racing sensation. The association is a solid reinforcement of the bank’s new brand identity; helping people win and realise their aspirations. Additionally, the bank continues to support initiatives that contribute to the national drive towards economic diversification such as its recent support as gold sponsor at the Oman Open Golf Tournament 2019.
