Maintaining pace with the progress of cutting-edge technologies to safeguard its operations and stakeholders, Bank Sohar recently sponsored Oman Cybersec Summit as its Exclusive Banking Partner, held at the Sheraton Hotel in Muscat on 30th October 2018. Partaking in the summit Mr Mujahid Said Al Zadjaly, Bank Sohar’s Deputy General Manager of IT and Alternate Channels took part in a panel discussion on ‘The Need for Modern Cyber Security Protocols: What They Are and How They Are Optimally Implemented in Complex Environments’.

Members of Bank Sohar’s management and IT Department attended amidst a plethora of local and international speakers discussing a broad range of critical topics. With over 100 stakeholders in attendance, the conference was centred on knowledge sharing towards the realization of a resilient and ever-evolving cyber security infrastructure for the Sultanate. Some of the topics covered at the event included cyber threats and challenges with local statistics, how data analytics are redefining cyber security, the evolution and role of Artificial Intelligence in managing cyber attacks, the link between leadership and cyber security governance, challenges and benefits of an efficient cyber security infrastructure. Mr Mujahid Al Zadjali received a token of appreciation from the event’s organizers, recognizing Bank Sohar’s valuable contribution to the platform.

Commenting on the summit, Mr Ahmed Al Musalmi, CEO of Bank Sohar, said, “Knowledge sharing is something we dearly value as an organization committed to play an active role in the overall economic development of Oman. Oman CyberSec Summit focused on the principal importance of integrating modern technologies to cope with the most challenging and advanced threats in real-time. The summit enabled its audience to understand the need to upgrade their security protocols and identify gaps between departments with a focus on the importance of staying updated with technologies such as Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, and the ‘Internet of Things’.
