Enjoy banking convenience on the move! Sohar International presents its internationally benchmarked SMS Banking Services. It will change the way you manage your finances and make it easy for you to interact with your bank accounts. All you need to do is register your mobile number with the Bank. You will then receive automated alerts of the transactions in your account on your mobile phone. To avail these services, visit any of the our branches and register for the service.

PUSH Alerts

SMS banking services are alerts that you would receive based on the transactions occurring on your account.

You will automatically be registerd for any or all of the following PUSH alerts:

Credit/Debit transactions in the accounts based on the limit you specify

Balance in the account if increased or decreased than a preferred limit that you pre-set

Daily / Weekly / Monthly account balances

Salary Credits

Cheque deposited in your account

Cheque issued from your account

Cheque deposited and rejected.

Execution status of standing instructions

Fixed Deposit renewal reminder

Loan repayment due notice

Eligibility

Sohar SMS Banking Service is available to all Sohar International customers who have savings, current, or term deposits accounts with the bank. Currently, this facility is available to all account holders, where the mode of operation is single or joint. In the case of a joint account, the facility is available only to one mobile number.

1. What is SMS Banking?

SMS Banking notifies account holders on various events such as credit/debit transactions and salary credits according on their accounts in the form of an SMS alert. Customers can also inquire their balance, view mini statements and transfer funds using SMS Banking.

2. What are the requirements to avail these services?

Customers need to have a bank account with Sohar International and a mobile phone connection from any service provider in Oman.

3. What types of SMS alerts can one subscribe for?

4. Can I receive alerts from more than one mobile phone?

No. SMS services is valid only for one mobile phone that is registered under your CIF.

5. Can I receive alerts Message if I am outside Oman?

If you have international roaming service you can receive SMS alerts.

6. Is there any Charges for using SMS Banking service?

Receiving message from the bank alert services is free of charge.

7. When will I get a message?

The processor will take around 45 seconds to 2 minutes. However the speed also depends on the telecom service provider and the network traffic.

8. Do I need a special phone for SMS PUSH Alerts?

No. You need an ordinary mobile phone to receive PUSH alerts.

9. What should I do if I change my mobile phone number or Mobile Service Provider?

Please inform the bank of any change in the Phone Number or service provider. For this you can walk down to any of the Sohar International branches and give a request for the change.

10. Are there any additional documents I need to submit to avail the SMS Banking services?

You will be registered automatically in the SMS  notification system

11. I have a mobile connection taken in another country. Can I avail of this facility?

This service is available to all subscribers of the local telecommunications company in Oman. This service can be used in any country that has an international roaming service with the Sultanate.

12. What are the measures I can take to ensure greater security?

Sohar International would never contact you by email, SMS or phone to ask details on your account, card, PIN or Password
