Bank Sohar Supports Al Wafa Centre for Handicapped Children’s Education

Bank Sohar made a generous contribution to the Al Wafa Centre for Handicapped Children’s Education in Mudhaibi as part of its fourth quarter donations. The goodwill gesture falls under the initiatives of the bank’s CSR wing - Sohar Al Atta that covers a comprehensive list of community development drives undertaken by various aid organizations that Bank Sohar regularly supports. Its donation towards the Al Wafa Center for Handicapped Children’s Education will be used towards upgrading the Centre’s facilities to house new sensory equipment, which will strengthen cognitive and social skills of the special needs children in its care.

Commenting on the Bank’s commitment towards social causes, Ms. Munira Abdulnabi Macki, GM - HR & Corporate Support, Bank Sohar, said, “We are focused on community empowerment and creating opportunities for better living within the Omani society. It has been a priority on the Bank’s CSR agenda to assist organizations devoted to special needs individuals especially children and that help in their successful integration into mainstream society. Our comprehensive CSR strategy under Sohar Al Atta works towards the collective goal of achieving sustainability through sustained community development.”

Thanking the Bank for its generosity, Ms. Khawla Ahmed Al Harthy, Center Supervisor at Al Wafa Centre for Handicapped Children’s Education, said, “We thank Bank Sohar for is continuous and unwavering support; their generosity has given greater momentum to the center’s mission and its goals to enrich the lives of children with physical disabilities. We have been fortunate enough to receive the Bank’s support since 2009. It is our hope that we continue to receive the assistance of the private sector so that we can provide the best care to society’s differently-abled members.”

The donation cheque was handed over to Mr. Mulahm Abdullah Said Al Busaidi, Unit Head-Administration & Finance - Department of Social Development Al Mudhaibi, by Mr. Mazin Mahmood Al Raisi, Sr. AGM - Head of Marketing and Customer Experience, Bank Sohar at the Bank’s Head office in MBD.

The Al Wafa Social Centre relies on trained Omani volunteers to provide services to disabled children and their families. The centre caters to special needs children between the ages of three and fourteen who have some form of mental, auditory, physical, or visual disability by providing social and psychological rehabilitation services and rehabilitation programs to improve the children’s abilities, articulation and speech abilities since an early age, generate guidance and directions to the families of the disabled regarding the case and requirements of the disability, how to deal with it and enhance the family’s role to perform its duties.
