As a part of their digital transformation strategy and keeping in line with their promise to deliver more velocity, more value and more vision to customers, Sohar International recently installed a ‘Recycler’ Cash Recycling (ATM) at the bank’s Azaiba Branch. The bank has been constantly adapting to newer technologies in terms of infrastructure with a view and objective of extending professional and efficient financial services to various segments of the society. This is also adding to the strategy to constantly enhancing customer digital touch points.
Sohar International’s AGM and Head Digital Banking, Mr. Abdullah Ahmed Al Anbori said, “Sohar International has demonstrated tremendous leadership in making the commitment to open up smart ‘Recycler’ ATM options for the ease of cash handling. This effort reflects on the banks focus of introducing the latest technology in Oman’s banking sector while driving our vision in delivering service, convenience and choice to all of our customers”. He further added “With an aim to be the leader in the Digital Banking space, Sohar International constantly strives to surpass its customers’ expectations, and continue to invest in the newer technologies, such as these next-generation ATMs and other digital touch points to help us grow even faster.”
The term ‘Recycler’ has been coined around the way the ATM functions - cash deposited into the machine is the same cash dispensed from it. With a continuous cycle of cash flow, customers are benefited since they no longer have to wait for the bank to refill these machines with new currency notes. This increases the availability of the terminals even during long weekends.
Sohar International is the first bank in Oman to launch these ‘SMART’ machines locally, giving everyone the access to additional features and enhancing customer experience ATM uptime. Although simple, these ATMs handle some important tasks such as accepting and dispensing cash with enhanced security features in comparison to other traditional ATM machines. The machine also allows bulk cash transactions in the tune of 200 - 300 notes in a single transaction.
